When a child is brought into JCW, they’re likely to walk into a room full of social workers. It can be daunting! But it’s not long before they realise they’re in a safe place with adults who want to help and protect them.

These social workers do their utmost to present a calm and reassuring façade to anxious children.

But in this Covid pandemic, social workers are also grappling with anxiety.

They struggle to sleep even though they need sleep to stay healthy and sharp. They want to hug their children and visit their loved ones but hold back to keep them safe. They spend hours reading, learning, and trying to prepare for an unseen killer.

So if someone you know is a social worker, please be patient with them! They’re struggling to find a balance between a job they’re passionate about and keeping their loved ones safe.
