Jo’burg Child Welfare has unfortunately seen the first member of our staff test positive for Covid. This has brought home the reality that we are all vulnerable and susceptible to the virus, regardless of who you are or what measures you’ve put in place to protect yourself.

The staff member worked at the Nthabiseng center in Baragwanath Hospital. All those who were in contact with her were immediately placed in quarantine or self-Isolation; and the centre was immediately closed and deep cleansed.

The staff member is doing well so far, and we hope and pray that she’ll make a full recovery.

Just to be clear, Nthabiseng is nowhere near the JCW centers. Our children were not exposed to this staff member. Preserving the health and safety of our JCW family is a top priority. We’ve implemented stringent Covid prevention strategies, such as taking temperatures, providing personal protective gear for staff and sanitation items for children.

This comes at great cost. We urgently need your support to deal with these unexpected expenses.

Please donate here to help JCW cope with this Corona Virus Pandemic. Thank you!
