Elton John Masibambisane
The Elton John Masibambisane Centre for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children was established in 2003. The centre is situated in Eldorado Park and provides services to members of the community in Eldorado Park, as well as to residents of the neighbouring informal settlements of Kliptown, Mandela Square and Slovo Park.
Masi provides a safe preschool and afterschool care environment for children in these areas. The staff specializes in psycho-social support, material assistance, homework supervision, and life skills training, as well as bereavement and general counseling to children between the ages of 2 and 18 and their caregivers.
Community outreach programmes are facilitated at schools, churches and community based organisations. More recently, a programme has been started for people living with HIV/AIDS.
Masibambisane means “lets pull together” in isiZulu.
